On this page we have compiled some information for you about how your therapy works.

The LGP Centre for Cannabis Medicine connects patients seeking support with experienced doctors specialising in therapy with cannabis and cannabinoids. At the heart of our work lies a patient-centred, multimodal approach: our doctors view well-being and sustainable health as a complex interplay of biological, psychological and social factors. From personal consultations in the practice to telemedical care via video call, the individual needs of each patient always come first. In addition to tailored medical advice, communication at eye level is a core principle of our care.
LGP's aim is to make access to medical cannabis therapy simple, reliable, individualised and cost-effective. To achieve this, we collaborate with a team of specialised doctors, psychologists and pharmacists. At LGP, the individual well-being of patients is our primary focus. We regard well-being and sustainable health as the result of bio-psycho-social interaction.
How It Works
Auf der LGP Website finden Sie das Online-Formular zur erstmaligen Registrierung: lebenswert-gesundheit.de/anmelden
First, enter your contact details on this page and submit the registration online. You will then receive an email from us with a link to confirm your email address. Please click the link in the email to register your account in the LGP patient portal. If necessary, please also check the spam/promotions folder in your inbox, as the email from LGP may have ended up there.
After clicking the confirmation link in our email, you will automatically be taken to the medical questionnaire in the LGP patient portal. Please now complete the medical questionnaire honestly and carefully. This information helps the cooperating doctors to develop, together with you, an individual therapy concept that reflects your current situation and corresponds to your treatment goals.
You can upload your medical records — such as doctors' letters, findings, discharge letters from inpatient hospital stays, rehabilitation reports, documents on medical examinations, laboratory results, medication plans, etc. — directly as files (e.g. photos, PDF, DOC) while completing our questionnaire. If you do not have your medical records to hand straight away, you can also upload them later in the LGP patient portal. After logging in to the LGP patient portal, you will find this function in the menu under: “Info” - “Submit documents”.
Once your medical questionnaire and your medical records are available, our cooperating doctors review your medical history carefully and individually. If any questions remain or further documents are required, you will receive an email from our team. In this way we want to ensure that you are, in principle, suitable for therapy with cannabis-based medicines and that no contraindications apply to you.
If you are, in principle, suitable for therapy with cannabinoids, you can now book an available appointment for your initial consultation with our cooperating doctors. Your initial medical consultation takes place either in person at one of our locations or online via telemedicine (video call). You can now conveniently book your preferred appointment online through the LGP patient portal. During your initial consultation, you will receive detailed information and advice regarding medical therapy with cannabis-based medicines.
After consulting your treating doctor, you can conveniently compile your prescription request online through the LGP patient portal. You can also book additional services at any time as required via the LGP patient portal. After logging in to the LGP patient portal, you will find these in the menu under “Optional Service”.

At least once per quarter (every 3 months), an online video call takes place with your doctor. The video call lasts approximately 10 to 15 minutes, depending on your individual situation. During this follow-up, you discuss your therapy so far with your doctor. What went well? Did anything not go so well? Are there any side effects or interactions with other medicines? You are also very welcome to ask your doctor any open questions. Throughout, your doctor continuously documents your therapy on the basis of a progress history. Together with your doctor, you can thus review your therapy on an ongoing basis and optimise it accordingly.
Good to Know
All private medical services are billed in accordance with the German Scale of Fees for Doctors (GOÄ). The GOÄ governs the billing of private medical services, i.e. medical services outside the statutory health insurance system. The currently valid version of the GOÄ dates from 1982 and is therefore not adapted to today's treatment options, including telemedical ones.
One solution here lies in what are known as analogous services. A doctor can use these to bill their own medical services that are not covered by the GOÄ. When billing these analogous services, the relevant fee code is marked with the letter suffix “A”. In addition to the service description, your invoice will always show the multiplier (factor) as well as the respective total amount for each individual private medical service.
Before you can book an appointment or a service with one of our cooperating doctors via the LGP patient portal, you must first sign a treatment contract and a fee agreement. Please note that the treatment contract and fee agreement are concluded exclusively between the cooperating doctors and you as the patient. The doctors cooperating with LGP work independently and run their own practices.
In the treatment contract you will find the provisions important for medical treatment regarding the relevant aspects of your therapy.
With the fee agreement, you are informed in detail about the expected treatment costs before making use of a medical service. Please note that the private medical services of the cooperating doctors may not be reimbursable and that these costs may have to be borne by you yourself.
Immediately after booking an appointment with one of our cooperating doctors via the LGP patient portal, you will find the information video by our medical director about therapy with cannabis-based medicines. Please watch the video and the accompanying information text carefully. This covers important information about cannabis therapy, such as contraindications, possible side effects and interactions, the so-called “no-label use” in the prescription of cannabis flowers, the particular features of remote treatment via video call, and other important topics relating to your therapy.
Your doctor will inform you in detail about all relevant aspects during the initial consultation. By watching our information video and text carefully, you will already receive important information in advance and can then ask your doctor specific follow-up questions during your appointment. The information video and further information are permanently available for you to access in the LGP patient portal. After your initial consultation, you will find numerous further videos in the LGP patient portal with valuable tips on therapy with cannabis-based medicines.
As already mentioned, private medical services are billed in accordance with the German Scale of Fees for Doctors (GOÄ), individually based on the respective treatment case. On the following page we have transparently compiled for you the approximate costs of the various services within the scope of cannabis therapy:
Learn More →Since the medical services are billed in accordance with the German Scale of Fees for Doctors (GOÄ), they are in principle reimbursable by private health insurers.
We recommend that you contact your private health insurer before starting therapy and discuss the situation with them. Please always obtain written confirmation of cost coverage from your private health insurer.
Under certain conditions, statutorily insured patients have the option of applying for cost coverage within the scope of therapy with cannabis-based medicines. The conditions for this are governed by Section 131 (6) of the German Social Code Book V (SGB V). Further regulations are set out in the Pharmaceuticals Directive (AM-RL) in Sections 44 and 45. LGP cooperates with a small number of specialists who are approved by statutory health insurers and specialise in therapy with cannabinoids, and who run their own practices. We have compiled further details about the process for cost coverage by statutory health insurers for you on this page:
